HANDLING DEPRESSION AT THE SUICIDE POINT.

If you’re having suicidal thoughts, know that you’re not alone. You should also know that feeling suicidal isn’t a character flaw, and it doesn’t mean you’re crazy or weak. It only signifies that you’re experiencing more pain or sadness than you can cope with. In the moment, it may seem as though your unhappiness will never end. But it’s important to realize that with help, you can overcome suicidal feelings.

Remember that problems are temporary, but suicide is permanent. Taking your own life is never the right solution to any challenge you may be facing. Give yourself time for the circumstances to change and for the pain to subside. Many people rush to making decisions, that would otherwise be handled, thus making their loved ones with engulfed with sombre. The Bible teaches us to value life and not commit murder even to our own lifes!

There’s no single reason why someone may try to take their own life. However, certain factors can increase the risk. Someone may be more likely to attempt suicide if they have a mental health disorder. In fact, over 45 percent of people who die by suicide have a mental illness at the time of their death. Depression is the major risk factor.

Several factors have proved to be associated with the current rate of suicides: They include but not limited to substances abuse especially overdose, family history of suicides, job and family frustrations, bullying or victimization, being exposed to embarrassing social factors like corruption. To extreme, we have witnessed people who have been diagnosed of disease like HIV/AIDS, cancer etc end their own lifes. They perceive such diagnosis nas death sentence of which it's absolutely wrong.

For the meantime, try as much as you can to eliminate any lethal methods of suicide which may include weapons like fire arms and knives etc. Remember to take the medication incase you are on antidepressants therapy. This will help calm your body and get rid of restlessness. Just like any other drug, you might feel some side effects, don't hesitate to show your doctor.

Try to talk to someone, don't shy off from being helped at a bandage point. Put ego aside and allow yourself to be advised accordingly. It will save you. I have heard and read about may people who actually surivide depression at suicide point. They turned out influential to appoint of becoming the role models through their story. The recently graduated Kenyatta University Student, with degree in Public Administration, Mathew Aol wrote that he had suffered depression. He was in school for more that 20 years because of fee frustration. He has graduated at age of 38 years!

Avoiding drugs and alcohol might be challanging but it's a good decision. Drugs don't solve the problem, it might make you relax for.a while. In this situation, one is advised to let their mind be free from any influence. Being under such may cause poor judgements like careless driving which might lead the problems worse than the source of depression itself. Yes you will feel high on influence of drugs but as soon as their concentration goes low, you will be feeling low again. Solve the problem with a sober mind.

Staying hopeful is the best thing. On Nation Newspaper on date 10-9-2021, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe quoted that sound mind health is the key in suicide prevention. I strongly agree with that. Being optimistic that what you are going through will soon be gone is very eventful. If someone clouds the mind with hopelessness, it drives them to depression. Be optimistic.
